Flu Vaccinations
Flu Vaccinations are now available, book yours today
Influenza (Flu) can affect anyone, no matter how fit, active and healthy they may be, and the best protection against influenza is immunisation. Influenza( Flu) causes deaths each year in NZ. The Flu vaccine is FREE for adults over 65 years AND for people of all ages with certain ongoing medical conditions such as heart disease and asthma. It is also FREE and recommended for pregnant women.
The Flu vaccination is recommended for ages from 6 months of age.

Immunisation for Children
There is a comprehensive FREE vaccination programme for children from 6 weeks to 11 years of age as recommended by the Ministry of Health National Immunisation Schedule.
Chicken Pox Immunisation
The chicken pox immunisation is available for children 1 years and over and is shown to be 98% effective for the prevention of chicken pox.
Immunisation for Adults
Tetanus, Diphtheria and Whooping Cough (Pertussis)
The Ministry of Health recommends booster vaccinations at age 45 and 65. A booster is also recommended if you are traveling to certain countries or have a job with high risk of exposure.
Shingles
Shingles is caused by the chicken pox virus and is most common in the over 50 years age group. This is available free in the year you have turned 65 or can be paid for from the age of 50.

Meningococcal Disease
Meningococcal disease is a bacterial infection that causes two very serious illnesses: meningitis (an infection of the membranes that cover the brain) and septicemia (blood poisoning) Immunisation is recommended for young adults or others living in hostel stations or similar close living situations and those traveling to certain parts of the world. This is not a publicly funded vaccination.
HPV
Immunisation is available free for everyone aged 9-26 years to help protect from cervical cancer and other cancers that are caused by HPV infection.

Whooping cough
Whooping cough is a highly infectious bacterial infection spread by coughing and sneezing and can prove fatal especially in very young children. On time vaccination as part of the FREE children’s programme is the best way to protect babies and infants. Adults in close contact with a baby or young children should strongly consider a booster shot.
